Legal Tips:
Wills
Requirements of a will in Minnesota:
Property rights
Q.
Can you leave your property to another (your
children, for example) and retain the right to use and occupy
the property for as long as you want?
A.
Minnesota recognizes a "life estate" in real
property. In order to accomplish the above, a quit
claim deed from the owner to the Grantees with a reservation
of a life estate to the owner will accomplish the desired
effect. The deed reads "John Olson, a single man, to
Jane Olson and David Olson reserving unto John Olson a life
estate in the following described real
property...."
Insurance
Did you know that Minnesota law requires insurance policies to include insurance coverage while you are renting a car?
So, if you are renting a car at an airport, whether it is in Minneapolis or Miami, your policy, issued in Minnesota covers the rental vehicle in the same way it covers your own vehicle.
